Hello friends! I'm Joslynn, the face behind Fox + Wild. In the real world I am an RN from Oshawa, Ontario. The love of my life is my best friend and husband, Doug who has been the biggest supporter of mine for the past 10 years we have been together. He is also a small business owner of a popular sports apparel store in our town. Trust me, he is handsome, hardworking and amazing (and not just at knowing useless sports facts haha).
I like to DIY things when possible, because on top of saving money; crafting is super fun! I enjoy reading and watching anything sci-fi and am often found curled under a blanket in bed, eating dark chocolate and binge-ing my newest show obsession. I am a bit of a foodie - always up for trying something new, but can also be happy just ordering my go-to faves from menu's. I don't drink coffee which many people find impossible but I just don't like the taste. I have a case of infinite wanderlust and try to travel to at least one new place every year with my husband, friends or family. A talent of mine is falling asleep very easily - any time I sit in a comfortable position I doze off. It explains my love of afternoon naps in the sun!
Doug and I got married in 2016 and recently purchased our first house in our hometown. After saving up and scouring our area for an affordable house for a couple of years (the GTA market is insane), we finally found a cute 1960's four-bedroom split level in the neighbourhood I grew up in for less than asking *yay*! It currently looks like a designer's nightmare with bright blue carpets throughout, a bathroom that was probably never updated in 50 years, and that dreaded wooden panel wall in the basement. Our goal is to tackle renovating a little at a time once we move in, in a few weeks. Since neither of us have any experience remotely close to home renos, it should be very interesting!
Back to the paper company; I created Fox + Wild in 2015 while I was planning our wedding. After discovering my fondness for hand lettering while DIY-ing our wedding invites, and also realizing my apparent obsession with buying anything with cute type, or design; I decided to try my hand at making my own. It kind of took off and 2 years later, I've made close to 1000 sales! I try to come up with new ideas from a journal I keep of quotes that I find beautiful or have meaning to me. Many of the quotes I letter are from books, movies, or shows that I have found inspiring. I would say my artistic style is whimsical and free spirited and my favourite medium to use is definitely watercolour as it is so light and flows freely.
I hope you all enjoy following along with me as I share how I create new prints, try my hand at DIY projects, attempt to reno our home, and travel / explore new places!
